Admittedly they're rather old and so they may require some tweaking on your end of things. I'm not familiar enough with Networker to know what options you have for obtaining the backup status on the Networker side of things. Knowing that would be a big start.

That said, since this is not specifically a CSP issue, but a core issue you may want to consider asking on the Open Source Support forums
